In 7 Days to Die, there are two ways to get wheels or tires – either by crafting them yourself or by finding them in the world. Here’s a quick guide on how to do both.
How to Get Wheels? (2 Methods)
In 7 Days to Die, you can gain wheels in two different methods. Wheels can be found as loot in the world or crafted on your own using the crafting menu.
Method #1: Get Wheels as Loot
The simplest way to obtain a wheel in 7 Days to Die is to find it as loot in the game. You’ll see old wheels laying about the map if you walk far enough.
These wheels can either stand alone or be piled up. You can disassemble these wheels in order to obtain an actual wheel. You can break this apart with a tool to get guaranteed plastic and, if you’re lucky, a wheel.
This procedure is based on chance, as it is not certain that a wheel will drop every time you split apart one of these old tires. Break them apart with a pickaxe or stone ax. If you were successful in obtaining a wheel, you will see a small wheel symbol appear on the bottom left of the screen.
As an alternative, you can also simply loot some areas for wheels. Going to mechanic shops and gas stations throughout the map is your best bet for this. Explore gas stations and loot all of the containers inside for a decent possibility of finding your own wheels.
Method #2: Crafting a Wheel
If you don’t like to gamble, you can make your own wheels. It is far more difficult to acquire all of the necessary materials in order to create wheels, but at least you’re certain that will get them.
To begin crafting your own wheels, you must first gain a specific perk by leveling up. The Grease Monkey perk’s first level allows the character to make their own wheels. Plus, you won’t need a workbench to make wheels.
The Grease Monkey perk can be found on the Intellect skill tree. To make one wheel, you will need the following materials:
- 2 Iron Forged.
Obtained using the Forge
- 16 Polymer Scrap
To obtain this, disassemble plastic items. You can obtain this item by breaking up old tires.
- Oil
Dismantle vehicles and raid gas stations.
- Coal
To acquire coal, break apart big coal rocks found on the surface.
- Acid Bottle
Some kitchen counters and petrol stations have it.
You will need to collect all of these items in order to make simply one wheel. As you can see, there are a lot of things you need to loot.
So when you come across an old wheel on the road, you should always strive to obtain it as loot.
What are the Uses of Wheels?
In 7 Days to Die, the player can craft a variety of vehicles, all of which require wheels to be built. Every single vehicle’s crafting recipe will require this, so it’s an important component to look for.
A player can build four ground-based vehicles and one capable of flying and moving on land using wheels and a variety of other parts, materials, and items. All of the vehicles in 7 Days to Die may be crafted are:
Bicycle
The bicycle is the most basic vehicle you can build. This one doesn’t require a workbench. You will require two wheels.
Mini Bike
The next vehicle you can build is a mini bike. This one is a cross between a bike and a motorcycle. It will require fuel to operate. The mini bike also requires 2 wheels to craft.
Motorcycle
The Motorcycle, another two-wheeled bike, is a significant upgrade from the mini bike.
4×4 Truck
The first vehicle with more than two wheels is the four-wheel drive truck. This vehicle excels at driving through the hordes. To make the 4×4 truck, you’ll need four wheels.
Gyrocopter
The sole flying vehicle available in 7 Days to Die is the Gyrocopter [1]. This vehicle may be used to fast travel around the map. The Gyrocopter will require three wheels.
