12 Ideal Characters To Marry

Stardew valley characters

Knowing which characters make good marriage candidates and what gifts to give them can be helpful for players looking to deepen their relationships in the game.

Players can pursue romantic relationships with certain characters, eventually leading to marriage. There are twelve potential marriage candidates, six men, and six women, and players can only enter into a romantic relationship with them after reaching eight hearts with the character.

This involves knowing the character’s likes, giving gifts, completing quests, and spending time with the character to increase their affection towards the player.

1. Alex

Alex is one of the potential marriage candidates in Stardew Valley. He is a confident and athletic young man who is passionate about sports and fitness. He lives with his grandparents, George and Evelyn, who are also residents of Pelican Town.

Alex can be found most days working out at the gym or playing sports on the town’s beach. He also participates in some of the town’s festivals and can often be found socializing with other residents.

As players get to know Alex better, they’ll discover that his jock personality is a coping mechanism for the abuse he suffered in his past.

Despite his confident exterior, Alex struggles with self-doubt and anxiety, and his passion for sports and fitness is his way of proving himself to the world. He dreams of becoming a professional Gridball player and hopes to make a name for himself in the sport.

2. Elliot

Elliott is one of the potential marriage candidates in Stardew Valley. He is a romantic and introspective writer who lives alone in a small cabin on the beach. Elliott spends most of his time writing and reading, and he has a passion for literature and art.

He is often found at the local library or on the beach, where he draws inspiration for his writing. While some players may find Elliott’s intense focus on writing a novel worrying, he doesn’t come with much baggage and sees the player as an inspiration.

3. Harvey

He is a friendly and helpful doctor who works at the local clinic in Pelican Town. Harvey is often busy with his work, but he enjoys reading and playing the piano in his free time. As players get to know Harvey better, they’ll discover that he is a kind and empathetic person who cares deeply about his patients and the people of Pelican Town.

While Harvey’s caring and responsible nature can be a positive aspect for some players, others may find him too clingy and over-concerned due to his profession as a medical professional.

4. Sam

He is a cheerful and outgoing young man who loves to play music and hang out with his friends. Sam is often found playing guitar or drums in his band, and he participates in some of the town’s festivals.

Sam works at JojaMart, and unlike some of the other marriage candidates, he will continue to work there after marriage.

Players will discover that Sam has a slightly immature streak, but he knows when to step up and take responsibility when needed. Despite his carefree nature, he is capable of being a supportive and responsible partner, and he values the player’s presence in his life.

5. Sebastian

Sebastian’s heart events are some of the most unique and interesting ones in Stardew Valley. Unlike some of the other player characters [1], whose heart events may be more straightforward or predictable, Sebastian’s events involve things like playing a tabletop game or going for a motorcycle ride.

These events not only add depth and complexity to Sebastian’s character but also offer players a chance to engage with the game in new and exciting ways.

Additionally, Sebastian’s heart events are particularly poignant, as they often deal with his feelings of isolation and insecurity, making them all the more meaningful and rewarding to experience.

6. Shane

Shane is widely regarded as the most difficult bachelor to pursue a relationship with in Stardew Valley, as he initially comes across as rude and dismissive towards the player and has an alcohol addiction.

However, as players progress through his heart events, they will discover that Shane is struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts, which makes his story all the more complex and emotionally intense.

Despite these challenges, Shane’s character development is impressive as players get to witness his journey toward personal growth and redemption, including seeking professional help for his mental health.

7. Abigail

Unlike many of the other marriage candidates, Abigail enjoys fighting monsters and exploring the deep mines, making her an exciting and unique choice for players who appreciate her bravery and adventurous spirit. However, Abigail’s bravado is also accompanied by immaturity and a tendency to hide her true feelings.

8. Emily

She is known for her skill in creating magic clothes for the player and her stable employment at the Stardrop Saloon. Players who pursue a relationship with Emily will discover that she is generally positive and upbeat, with very little negativity in her story.

As players get to know Emily better, they’ll learn more about her love for nature and the supernatural, as well as her desire to find meaning and purpose in her life.

9. Haley

While she initially appears selfish and superficial, her character development arc is exciting, as players witness her growth into a kinder and more empathetic person who learns to appreciate life outside her own narrow worldview.

By the time the player marries her, Haley has become one of the kindest characters in the game.

10. Leah

While Leah is not the most popular spouse option in Stardew Valley, she is not a bad person. Players who pursue a connection with Leah will realize that she has some emotional baggage and may exhibit some paradoxical behavior from time to time.

Despite these difficulties, Leah cares about the player and maybe a kind and devoted girlfriend.

11. Maru

She works as a nurse, and she is also passionate about astronomy and robotics, which can make her an intriguing and unique character to get to know.

Maru’s father, Demetrius, is protective of her and may need to be won over by the player before a relationship can progress.

12. Penny

Penny also has some personal issues that she needs to work through, and it may take some time for players to earn her trust.

Penny’s story is one of finding hope and redemption in the face of adversity, and she can be a loving and attentive partner for players who appreciate her kind and compassionate personality.
