Fixed: Star Wars KOTOR 2 Movement Keys Stop Working

Have you ever been in the middle of a battle in Knights of the Old Republic 2, only to have your movement keys stop working? It’s frustrating, but you don’t need to be concerned!

There are a few things you can do to fix the issue. In this guide, we’ll walk you through some troubleshooting steps so you can resume your KOTOR gaming session.

What You Can Do When the Movement Keys Stop Working

The steps required to get your movement keys working again on the Knights of the Old Republic 2 are listed below, along with some additional information to assist you in troubleshooting if the game keeps crashing or locking up at random times.

Fix #1: Check Your Key Bindings

When your movement keys in Knights of the Old Republic 2 stop working, it’s usually because you’ve accidentally bound them to something else.

First, go to Options followed by Key Bindings to check your key bindings. Scroll down to the Movement section and double-check that WASD is still set to forward, backward, left, and right. If it isn’t, click on the key and then press the desired movement key.

Fix #2: Update Your Drivers

It’s always a good idea to keep your drivers, including game drivers, up to date. It’s possible that problems with movement keys in Knights of the Old Republic 2 are caused by outdated or corrupt drivers.

You can manually update your drivers by visiting the manufacturer’s website and searching for the most recent correct driver. If you don’t have the time, patience, or computer skills to manually update your drivers, Driver Easy can do it for you.

Fix #3: Reset Steam Cloud Saves

This is another problem that is easily resolved by resetting your Steam Cloud saves. Simply navigate to the Steam Cloud tab in your Steam [1] settings and select Reset Cloud Data.

This will wipe out all of your current saves, so make a backup first. After resetting your data, restart the game to see if the problem has been resolved.

Fix #4: Reinstall Steam and Knights of the Old Republic 2
