How to Make a Project Zomboid Server With Hamachi

Are you considering to make your own Project Zomboid server with Hamachi? If so, this guide will provide you with the basic steps to get you started.

Project Zomboid is an open-world zombie survival game that can be a lot of fun for both single and multiplayer games. By using Hamachi, you can easily create your own private server for you and your friends.

To show you all the necessary steps, here’s a detailed guide on how to make a Project Zomboid server with Hamachi.

How to Make a Project Zomboid Server With Hamachi?

Start by downloading the Hamachi and by selecting “Unmanaged”. Then, accept their terms of service to proceed with the download. Next, install it on your device.

Open Hamachi and select the power button in the upper-left corner and enter the name by which you wish to be recognized by others. After completing these steps, you will be presented with two options: “Create a Network” and “Join an Existing Network.”

Choosing the Unmanaged mode for download and setup of Hamachi

As you will be the one hosting, you should create a new network. Give it a name and an optional password, then click “create.” You have now created a private network that will connect your computer to any others that join your Hamachi network.

After that, proceed to your Project Zomboid folder. Select a .bat file titled “ProjectZomboidServer” to activate the server.

This will generate the map and everything required to operate the server. Allow it to complete its task until you see “Server Started.” Close the server starter if you want to edit the server properties (PVP, Chat Options, etc.).

Leave it on if you don’t want to edit it. Now that your server is operational, you wish to allow users to join. It would be beneficial to password-protect your Hamachi network to prevent unauthorized access to your server.

Joining a network in Hamachi

Have your friend or player download and install Hamachi exactly as you did, except this time they will be joining an existing network rather than creating one, so make sure you provide them your server login credentials.

As soon as they click “connect,” their computer and your computer will be automatically connected. Launch Project Zomboid and choose “Join Server.”

If you prefer, give the server a name and fill out the remaining fields. Now, what matters most now is the IP. When you launch Hamachi, you’ll see a series of numbers separated by periods (xx.xx.xx.xx) directly above the name you give yourself. This is the IP address that you will use to connect to your server.

It is also the IP address [1] that your friends and other players will use to connect to the server. Click “connect” and follow the on-screen instructions.

Conclusion

Congratulations, you now know how to make a Project Zomboid server with Hamachi. This guide should provide you with the basic steps needed to create a private server for you and your friends to enjoy.

We highly recommend Hamachi if you’re a beginner because you can easily create and manage your own private server for Project Zomboid.
