In a thrilling showcase during Ubisoft Forward, gaming enthusiasts were treated to an exciting glimpse of the highly anticipated Star Wars Outlaws. Developed by Massive Entertainment, the game offers an immersive open-world experience in the iconic Star Wars universe, where players can fully embrace the scoundrel fantasy.
Julien Gerighty, the creative director at Massive Entertainment, took the stage to unveil approximately 10 minutes of captivating in-game footage from Star Wars Outlaws.
The gameplay preview showcased the misadventures of the cunning scoundrel Kay Vess and her loyal and enigmatic alien companion, Nix, a Merqaal. Together, they embark on a daring mission to execute what Ubisoft calls “one of the most audacious heists ever witnessed in the Outer Rim.”

The gameplay footage demonstrated a dynamic criminal landscape teeming with various syndicates, presenting both opportunities and perils for Kay and Nix. Players will navigate this dangerous underworld using their wits and skills, relying on influence, reputation, and cold hard credits to interact with the notorious scum and villainy of the Star Wars universe.
In one exhilarating sequence, Kay engages in a fierce firefight with Pyke forces scavenging an abandoned Imperial base. As the situation escalates, she expertly escapes on the back of a speeder bike, deftly maneuvering through the treacherous terrain. The footage also showcases Kay’s encounter with ND-5, her dashing droid partner, in the bustling smuggler town of Jaunta’s Hope. Here, they negotiate a deal with a mysterious Imperial “friend” and a Mon Cal named Danka, which doesn’t proceed as planned.
However, Kay’s troubles are far from over. As she attempts to flee the planet of Toshara, reminiscent of the Grand Theft Auto series [1], a large “WANTED” warning screen flashes, drawing significant attention from the Empire. The ensuing space dogfight and daring hyperspace retreat tease the game’s promise of unrestricted adventure and freedom to explore the galaxy.
Star Wars Outlaws offers players the chance to step into the shoes of a Han Solo-like character, with thrilling interplanetary escapes from Imperial pursuit, stealthy missions aboard Star Destroyers, intense encounters with extraterrestrial adversaries aiming to seize your hard-earned loot, and the companionship of an endearing and furry sidekick.

Ubisoft describes the game as an original story, between the events of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, unfolding against the backdrop of a thriving criminal underworld. At the same time, the Galactic Empire concentrates its attention on the Rebel Alliance.
Massive Entertainment first revealed the project, now known as Star Wars Outlaws, back in 2021. The game is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X, aiming to captivate fans with its scoundrel-filled universe in 2024.
Fans eagerly await the opportunity to delve into this open-world Star Wars adventure and carve their path through a galaxy far, far away.
