The highly anticipated release of Final Fantasy 16 on PC has remained uncertain, leaving players eager for updates. However, there’s good news on the horizon. Producer Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida recently confirmed that the game’s PC version is still in active development and assured fans that more information will be shared as the project nears completion.
During a recent streaming session, Yoshida addressed the current status of the PC version, acknowledging that it requires additional work to ensure it matches the quality and experience of its PlayStation 5 counterpart.
Specifically, he mentioned the need to address loading screens during travel between locations and transitions from cutscenes to gameplay. Due to the team’s focus on optimizing the PS5 version, they haven’t had sufficient time to dedicate to the PC version.
“We are committed to delivering a top-notch PC experience, and we will reveal more details about the PC version when the time is right. Please look forward to it,” Yoshida emphasized. This sentiment echoes his approach to discussing upcoming features for another title he oversees, Final Fantasy 14.

The journey toward Final Fantasy 16’s PC release has been marked by uncertainty and speculation since its initial announcement in 2020. The game’s trailer indicated a PC version, but Square Enix [1] remained tight-lipped. Yoshida himself briefly denied the existence of a PC version earlier this year.
However, a month later, he acknowledged in a Japanese PlayStation blog post that a PC version would be released after the six-month exclusivity deal with the PS5 expired.
He clarified that optimizing the PC version would take more time, stating, “Even if we begin optimizing the PC version after the PS5 version’s launch, it won’t be possible to complete the optimization within just six months.”
