Baldur’s Gate 3 Promises Immense Gameplay: Over 75-100 Hours for Standard Playthrough

Larian Studios, the renowned developers behind the beloved Divinity series, have revealed exciting details about their highly anticipated game, Baldur’s Gate 3.

In an exclusive interview with IGN, Swen Vincke, the head of Larian, shared that the upcoming title will offer a vast gameplay experience, with a standard playthrough expected to take players anywhere from 75 to 100 hours.

However, for completionists seeking to explore every nook and cranny of the game, including all quests and content, the journey could extend to a staggering 200 hours.

Vincke emphasized that the team at Larian had designed Baldur’s Gate 3 with multiplayer sessions in mind, drawing inspiration from the immersive nature of tabletop Dungeons & Dragons campaigns.

Players who embark on multiplayer adventures will have the opportunity to organize regular sessions, enabling them to delve into the world of Baldur’s Gate 3 over an extended period. This approach encourages a more collaborative and social gaming experience akin to the interactions found in traditional pen-and-paper RPGs.[1]

With over 600 different spells and seven Origin characters available at launch, Baldur’s Gate 3 provides an array of choices for players to shape their in-game identities. For those undeterred by pre-existing characters, the game provides a custom avatar.

This feature allows players to select 11 playable races, 31 subraces, 12 classes, and 46 subclasses, guaranteeing a genuinely personalized and immersive experience.

However, the magnitude of Baldur’s Gate 3 extends beyond character customization and gameplay options. Vincke revealed astonishing details about the game’s cinematic elements, surpassing even the impressive scale set by The Witcher 3.

With a remarkable 170 hours of cinematics and a dialogue script three times longer than the Lord of the Rings trilogy combined, the narrative depth and storytelling potential of Baldur’s Gate 3 are nothing short of monumental.

The excitement continues to build as the PC version of Baldur’s Gate 3 is slated for release on August 3, 2023, a month ahead of its originally announced date. To ensure the best possible experience for Xbox players, the studio works diligently with Microsoft’s Xbox Advanced Technology Group.

Although a release window for the Xbox version is yet to be announced, Larian has assured fans that the game will be available on the platform in due course.

As anticipation mounts, eager fans can mark their calendars for Larian’s upcoming event, the Panel From Hell: Release Showcase, scheduled for July 7, where further news and insights about Baldur’s Gate 3 will be unveiled.
