To properly perform a name change in Fortnite, gamers on the PC platform and Nintendo Switch must go through the Epic Games website.
The good news is that it’s free, even though it may be a little inconvenient for Switch users. All the steps necessary to change your in-game name are listed here.
- Visit the Epic Games website and log in with your Fortnite account of choice.
- You must link your Nintendo Switch account to your regular Epic Games PC account if you haven't done so before.
- Players of Fortnite on Switch use the same name as they do on the Epic Games website.
- Look for the account section by clicking on your username at the top of the Epic Games website.
- Access the area for your name by going to "general" and "account info."
- Next to the name, there will be a blue edit box. There, just change the name, and you're ready to go.
