If you want to remain alive on 7 Days to Die, you got to know what attracts or sets off zombies. So in this post, we’ll answer if whether or not zombies are attracted to light. We’ll also provide some tips on how to steer clear of these beasts in the game!
Does Light Attract Zombies?
Light sources on the player attract zombies because they make you less concealable (stealth system).
Candles and torches are the least attractive, followed by either a hand or a pistol flashlight, and finally, a mining helmet [1], which is the most attractive to them.

- Torches, burning barrels, and fueled workstations (which do produce light) will provide the most "heat," which will attract screamers. A torch or two should be sufficient.
- Candles are a good middle-of-the-road option for base lighting because they generate heat but not as much as Torches or Burning Barrels and may be placed in greater numbers around your base.
- Electrical lights produce the least amount of heat, while gas generators, battery banks, or solar panels used to power them produce no heat at all.
- Because mobile light sources should not generate heat, using a flashlight, helmet light mod, or even holding a torch should not cause the heat map to increase.
